Vermont Business Magazine On Tuesday, June 7, members of the Castleton University Men’s Hockey team presented providers, administrators, and staff at Rutland Regional Medical Center with a supersized check representing proceeds raised from the first ever Breaking the Ice on Mental Health event to benefit Behavioral Health programs and services offered by Rutland Regional.
More than $9,000 was raised at the first event on February 4, 2022, at Spartan Arena. Castleton University Men’s Hockey Coach Kyle Richards, and team member Grady Birk, a junior at Castleton University, presented the check to Claudio Fort, President and CEO of Rutland Regional Medical Center, alongside providers and staff from the Rutland Regional Behavioral Health Clinic.
"It was important to the team to give back to the community this year,” said Spartan’s Head Coach, Kyle Richards. “The team recognized mental health issues have been exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, so we are proud to partner with Rutland Regional Medical Center to raise awareness and support for mental health services.”
“We are grateful for the strong partnership and collaboration with Castleton University and appreciate the leadership of the Men’s Hockey team in focusing on the importance of mental health services in our community,” said Claudio Fort. “The team’s commitment to this important cause has been outstanding.”
