$3,600 raised for the Green Mountain Club

Vermont Business Magazine Embodying the mantra “Hike Vermont,” Lenny’s Shoe & Apparel raised $3,600 for the Green Mountain Club through a clever fundraising event this spring.

Lenny’s teamed up with Life is Good to create limited-edition Green Mountain Club t-shirts. 360 t-shirts were released exclusively at Lenny’s in mid-March to build momentum for the summer hiking season. Lenny’s donated $10.00 from each shirt sold to the Green Mountain Club. The shirts were nearly sold out by Memorial Day, the traditional kick off to summer hiking season.
“Vermont’s thousands of acres of mountain terrain are crossed by hiking trails, and we need to support this cherished and irreplaceable resource,” said Mark McCarthy, Co-Owner of Lenny’s. “The hard-working team of staff and volunteers at the Green Mountain Club help to protect and maintain these trail systems. We are forever grateful for the work they do so we can get outside and hike Vermont.”

Beyond maintaining hiking trails, the club has a hiking community of nearly 10,000 members and offers hiking recommendations, workshops, and outings. In addition to the custom Life is Good T-shirts, Lenny’s carries a variety of books, guides, and maps published by the Green Mountain Club, along with an extensive collection of hiking boots and socks.

“We’re so grateful to Lenny’s for continuing their partnership with the Green Mountain Club and helping us reach our mission of making the mountains play a larger role in the life of the people,” said Mike DeBonis, Executive Director of GMC. “Trail maintenance is a long-term project that’s never really complete, so we rely on sustaining partnerships from local businesses like Lenny’s to not only outfit hikers with the gear they need, but provide generous support of the Green Mountain Club helps us manage, maintain, and steward over 500 miles of trails for current and future generations of hikers.”
