Important Update on DUNS Numbers

By April 2022 the federal government is transitioning away from using DUNS numbers and will be using a Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) number as the primary means of entity identification for federal awards.

What does this mean for you?

There is no fee to obtain a UEI. The UEI is issued by the federal government as part of the SAM registration process so if you have a SAM account, your UEI number has already been assigned to your profile.

You will (most likely) need to update your information on marketing material, contracts, GSA Schedules, search filters, etc. And note that all reports in SAM saved by DUNS number will be expunged, so go into your reports now and add your UEI in order to keep them.
