Millennials & Gen Z Bring a New Set of Values and Expectations That Companies Must Embrace - or Risk Failure by Exclusion
Vermont Business Magazine Calibrate Partners, a Vermont-based Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) consulting firm, announced today a joint-partnership with Philadelphia-area based RAS Associates, a full-service Public Relations & Marketing agency. The firms will provide ESG consulting services to domestic and international clients. Calibrate Partners will focus on helping organizations design ESG strategies aligned with shifting regulatory requirements and that resonate with millennial and Gen Z customers, employees, and investors. RAS Associates will focus on marketing the partnerships’ services and will manage crisis communication for Calibrate clients when needed.
“We’re excited to partner with RAS Associates to market our ESG services and provide our clients with highly-specialized crisis communication expertise,” said Calibrate
Partners founder Noah Miller. “Millennials and Gen Z customers, employees, and investors have a completely different approach to doing business with organizations than did their parents and grandparents. Millennial and Gen Z consumers take a critical approach to deciding what companies and organizations deserve their support, whether it be their money, their time, or their social acceptance. Gone are the days that a company can simply operate with impunity,” Miller said.
“There is no question organizations must not only adapt to these new norms, but they must also genuinely embrace them,” Miller continued. “Unlike any group of consumers before Millennials and Gen Z, how an organization conducts itself truly drives a customer’s purchasing decisions. Is the company or organization socially responsible? Is it environmentally responsible? Does it treat its employees fairly? Does it provide employees with a safe work environment? The list goes on and on,” he said. “We help organizations understand why all of this is important and we develop strategies designed to leverage a company’s purpose, people and processes so they become the company of choice to Millennials and Gen Z. Organizations can’t be cursory or inattentive. They need to be genuine, transparent and focused, otherwise they will likely feel the wrath of customer discontent, poor sales or worse yet, being cancelled outright.”
As companies increasingly come under pressure to meet or exceed mandated ESG targets and satisfy the ever-growing demands and expectations of employees, investors, and customers to be better companies, the odds of finding themselves amid a crisis increases exponentially,” says RAS Associates CEO, Bob Schiers. “When an organization finds itself in crisis, whether it is self-inflicted or comes from an outside source beyond its control, it must be prepared to respond quickly and transparently,” Schiers notes. “It’s never a question of ‘if’ an organization will have a crisis, it’s a matter of ‘when’ – and it’s best to be prepared for as many contingencies as possible. Granted, no one can anticipate every possible type of crisis but planning for obvious, as well as obscure problems, means less confusion, fewer missteps, and greater protection for your brand.”
“We are a results-driven company, Miller said. “We approach every engagement as a client’s teammate, and we develop solutions alongside the true experts of an organization – its people and its customers. Sometimes sweeping changes are needed. Other times, a few minor tweaks will suffice. When our clients commit to the work, they improve their ESG strategy, their leadership, and their organization’s culture,” Miller said.
Miller points to four specific outcomes that Calibrate clients should expect. “One, our process helps ensure that our client’s employees will be engaged, energized, and empowered to contribute,” he says. “Two, leadership will actively create an ESG-centric culture needed for success. Third, an implementable ESG strategy will drive both commercial and societal impact. Fourth, and this is very critical, your culture, leadership, and strategy will become a competitive advantage,” Miller said.
