Vermont Agency of Agriculture Food & Markets Are you producer association, agriculture business or forestry business that's looking for financial assistance to take your operation to the next level? Well lucky for you the Working Lands Enterprise Board is currently accepting applications for numerous grant opportunities. These opportunities can help your organization with everything from infrastructure, marketing, meat processing, professional development projects and more.

The following are the funding opportunities currently open, which all have a November 1 deadline:

On top of of all that, the pre-applications for the Supply Chain Impact Grantand Market Level Infrastructure Impact Grant open for reading and reviewing on October 8. Submittals to this pre-application open on October 22, and are due on December 6.

Farm to School and ECE Grant

It's Farm to School Month, which means that the Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets Farm to School and Early Childhood Grant is here. This competitive grant offers financial and technical assistance to schools and early childhood providers interested in building or expanding farm to school programs. VAAFM will begin accepting applications for this grant tomorrow, October 4th. Tune in to the grant webinar on Wednesday October 6th at 4 pm to learn more about this important grant. Phosphorous Program Seeks TA Provider

The Vermont Agency of Agriculture, Food & Markets is seeking a technical assistance (TA) provider to help producers enrolled in the Vermont Pay for Phosphorus Program, which will pay farmers for voluntary, verified reductions in phosphorus loads on agricultural crop fields. Services requested include entry of farm management data into the Farm Phosphorus Reduction Planner (FarmPREP) program, record-keeping and data upkeep in FarmPREP, and in-field and record verification of field-by-field management.

The maple trees are beginning to change colors and turn Vermont’s landscapes into shades of red, orange and yellow and there's no better reminder to participate in the fun during this year’s Maple 100. Through October 15th, grab friends and family and join in to find maple activities, specialty products, and learning resources across the state. Be sure to submit your Maple 100 Bingo photos by October 22nd to be entered to win a fantastic local maple prize!

USDA Establishes Equity Commission

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it will establish an Equity Commission and is soliciting nominations for membership. The Equity Commission will advise the Secretary of Agriculture by identifying USDA programs, policies, systems, structures, and practices that contribute to barriers to inclusion or access, systemic discrimination, or exacerbate or perpetuate racial, economic, health and social disparities.
