Applications for first stage of new capital investment program now being accepted

Vermont Department of Economic Development Funding under this program is intended for transformational projects that create opportunity to retain existing businesses, attract more businesses, create jobs and strengthen communities by encouraging capital investments and economic growth. The applicants can be non-profit or for-profit businesses, however, not publicly traded companies.

Tourism and Economic Recovery Marketing Grants

The Tourism and Economic Recovery Marketing Grants are now open and accepting applications. These grants are intended to enable local, regional, or statewide organizations implement marketing campaigns and initiatives that increase consumer spending, support local businesses, and advance community recovery efforts to support businesses in Vermont that have suffered economic harm due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. Maximum grant awards are up to $30,000 with $600,000 in available funding.

Economic Recovery Bridge Program Webinar: For Hospitality and Tourism Industry

The Agency of Commerce and Community Development launched the Economic Recovery Bridge Program on June 7th, 2021 to provide financial assistance to businesses who continue to be adversely impacted by COVID-19.

Please join Commissioner of Economic Development Joan Goldstein, and Commissioner of Tourism and Marketing Heather Pelham for a presentation about program eligibility, how Tourism and Hospitality businesses might access the program, and a robust Q&A session to address any outstanding questions participants may have.

Last Week to Apply for the Newport Development Grant Program

Two grant opportunities are available to incentivize and support developments in the City of Newport:

  • The Newport Development Grant Program, a competitive grant with a minimum request of $50,000, for the purpose of assisting impactful projects that align with city and regional plans. Increased consideration will be given to properties and entities that can demonstrate they have been adversely impacted by the EB-5 failed projects.
  • The Discover Newport Business Grant Program, a set-aside funding opportunity of the NDF, aimed at incentivizing businesses to locate or expand within City of Newport, $5,000-$20,000 awards.

Understanding Act 70

This past legislative session the Vermont Legislature past Act 70, updating laws around alcoholic beverages and event permitting. The Department of Liquor and Lottery (DLL) has created new resources to help businesses and liquor licensees better understand and implement the new laws. DLL has also created an FAQ for those with further questions about to-go beverages and changes made to festival permits.
