Vermont Business Magazine A $3 million gift from the Juckett Cancer Research Foundation will be celebrated with the investiture of UVM Cancer Center Director Randall Holcombe, MD, MBA, as the inaugural J. Walter Juckett Chair in Cancer Research at the UVM Larner College of Medicine. When: Wednesday, November 3, at 4:00 p.m.

Why: Appointment to an endowed position is among the highest academic honors the University of Vermont can bestow on a faculty member. Investiture ceremonies acknowledge and celebrate the inaugural holders of the newly endowed positions and recognize the donors whose generosity made the appointment possible. Holcombe, who joined UVM in August after serving as director for the University of Hawai’i Cancer Center, has a reputation for applying innovative thinking to researching and treating cancer within high-risk populations, from 9/11 responders to rural residents. The Juckett Foundation, formerly based in Upstate N.Y., is a private grant making foundation in Essex Junction, Vt., which has a longstanding history of supporting cancer research at UVM.
What Else: Media wishing to attend the ceremony or speak to Dr. Holcombe and other leaders before or after the event, must confirm with Jennifer Nachbur. Parking is available at the curb (marked vehicles only) in front of the Larner College of Medicine’s Given Building.
