Current Interim Principal Selected After National Search
Vermont Business Magazine On May 4th, the Burlington Board of School Commissioners unanimously approved the appointment of Lauren McBride to the role of Principal of Burlington High School (BHS) beginning July 1, 2021. McBride was chosen for the position after a national search yielded a pool of 19 qualified candidates from nine states and two countries.
“Principal McBride has been a huge asset to both our school and our District, and I am so pleased to see recognition of her good work reflected in the Board’s unanimous decision,” said Burlington School District (BSD) Superintendent Tom Flanagan. “Ms. McBride stepped into a difficult situation earlier this year and took a student-centered approach to skillfully lead our community into a new building, all while focusing on equity and deep learning. She is the right person to continue leading BHS into the future, and I am grateful to know she will continue on this journey with us.”
“Leading BHS for the past few months has been an amazing and rewarding experience, and I am so excited for this opportunity to remain at the helm of BHS as we begin our next chapter,” said Principal McBride. “I continue to be overwhelmed by the support I have received from families and staff during this transition, and I’m grateful for the unanimous support of our Board last night. We are at an important time in the life of BHS as we begin to pursue a plan for a new, permanent home, and I couldn’t be happier about the ability to participate in this work and help lead BHS into the future.
