Statement of the Vermont Bar Association honoring Judge Peter Hall

Vermont Business Magazine Elizabeth Kruska, President of the Vermont Bar Association and on behalf of the VBA Board of Bar Managers, released the following statement honoring Judge Peter W. Hall of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit:

The Vermont Bar Association congratulates Judge Peter Hall on the occasion of his taking senior status on the US Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.

Judge Hall has been a career-long member of the Vermont Bar Association, serving on its Board of Bar Managers for many years and as President of the VBA in 1995-1996. Judge Hall has worked tirelessly to serve the public and the profession over the course of his legal career, as an extremely well-respected trial practitioner in Rutland, Vermont, as United States Attorney for the District of Vermont, and most recently as a Senior Judge on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

Judge Hall was instrumental in the VBA’s formulation of the “Guidelines for Professional Courtesy” and made professionalism a hallmark of his tenure as VBA President. Equally passionate about access to justice principles, Judge Hall has championed efforts to provide legal services to disadvantaged Vermonters through a variety of Vermont Bar Association and Vermont Bar Foundation programs. Lawyers of all ages throughout Vermont have also benefitted from Judge Hall’s generous willingness to mentor and guide any who have sought his counsel.

On behalf of the Vermont Bar Association, I thank Judge Hall for his exemplary public service and for inspiring so many by his dedication to excellence in the legal profession.
