Vermont Business Magazine Don Sinex, managing member of the CityPlace Burlington Team, has announced that the City of Burlington Development Review Board (DRB) voted unanimously Wednesday night to approve the revised project plan for CityPlace Burlington.
With the new amended zoning permit, the CityPlace Burlington Team can now proceed with all the steps necessary to start construction, including arranging the necessary financing, preparing the required construction drawings, and resolving all other pending matters. Sinex has said he hopes to break ground on the $165 million project this September if all those other factors fall into line.
“I’d like to thank the DRB and our Architects Freeman French Freeman for all the hard work that went into this decision. Last night’s unanimous approval vote gives us yet another green light to move forward. We look forward to breaking ground soon on this transformative project that will bring so many benefits to our Downtown,” Sinex said.
“This vote is encouraging progress for the project. I am excited to move forward—this decision allows us to stick to our intended schedule of a late summer / early fall construction start,” said Dave Farrington, CityPlace Burlington Development Partner
The CityPlace Burlington Development Team also state that it would like to thank the people of Burlington—the residents, families, business owners and employees—for their patience and perseverance though this process. “We look forward to breaking ground soon, to bring more housing, new jobs, new streets, community spaces and renewed economic vitality to our Downtown,” the CityPlace Team said.
On February 23, the Burlington City Council voted unanimously to approve the settlement of a lawsuit agreed to between Mayor Weinberger and the CityPlace development team.
The vote followed an agreement by the developer and city on committing to pay all construction workers on the site Vermont State Prevailing Wage for the Burlington Area.
