National Science Foundation virtual classroom coming June 22

An interactive half-day, deep dive into the NSF’s SBIR/STTR programs specifics

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center (VT PTAC) invites Vermont businesses and educational institutions involved in Research and Development (R&D) to a live, virtual classroom on Tuesday June 22, 2021, at 9:00am for assistance with proposal preparations for the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs.

The National Science Foundation invests more than $200 million annually in their SBIR/STTR programs. Learn if your R&D project qualifies for funding, review key elements of a proposal, and the importance of your commercial plan. Discuss with experts how to present your technical objectives, budget, bio sketches, facilities, collaborators, and more.

Nationally known speakers from BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting (BBCetc) will give a short overview of the NSF programs, followed by lessons and discussions on the Project Description Elements, and Key Elements of Phase I.

Attendees will learn:

• Program’s goals and eligibility

• How to navigate the NSF website and use web tools

• The importance of Program Managers

• Application components and proposal scoring

• How to avoid common pitfalls and more

VT PTAC Director, Joanne Spaulding stated, “We are ecstatic to be able to bring back the experts from BBC Entrepreneurial Training & Consulting to speak to our Vermont R&D community about the intricacies of the National Science Foundation SBIR/STTR programs”.
