Scott expected to announce Vermont has reached 80 percent goal today

Vermont Business Magazine Governor Phil Scott is holding a special press briefing today at 11 am. He is expected to announce that the state has reached the 80 percent goal on COVID-19 vaccinations. He also is expected to announce further health guidance. Among the most significant restrictions still needing to be lifted, as of today, are those involving restaurant and event capacities and seating requirements.

However, it is likely the governor will not yet dissolve the State of Emergency, as there are still federal funding considerations and other state measures that still need direction. Businesses, retailers and other public venues will likely be able to continue safety measures as they see fit on a voluntary basis.

The Governor’s Facebook page will stream the briefing, linked here.

Several Vermont TV and radio news stations may also live broadcast the briefings.

As of June 12, 2021, 79.9% (440,438) of eligible Vermonters have received at least one dose. An additional 332 Vermonters remain to be vaccinated to reach the goal. This accounts for the additional 1,017 Vermonters vaccinated on June 12, 2021.

Activation of Step 4 of the Vermont Forward Plan requires 80% of eligible Vermonters to be vaccinated. The Vermont Forward Plan ties reopening to specific vaccine milestones in the state. The following relates to progress towards Step 4. See Step 4 guidance below. It includes encouraging, but not requiring, mask wearing for unvaccinated people. It also eliminates capacity requirements.
