VDH COVID-19 Update: Fewer than 1400 needed to reach goal

Fri, 06/11/2021 - 4:07pm -- tim

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Department of Health today reported seven new cases of COVID-19 in Vermont. There are two people hospitalized with one in the ICU. There were again no deaths. There has been only one COVID-related death in the last three weeks and are holding at a statewide total of 256. Windsor County this week surpassed Chittenden for the most COVID cases.

While the vaccine uptake has slowed in recent weeks, Vermont still ranks first in the nation in all the major vaccine categories and will likely get to 80 percent vaccinated by this Monday.

As of June 10, 2021, 79.8 percent (439,393) of eligible Vermonters have received at least one dose. An additional 1,367 Vermonters remain to be vaccinated to reach the goal.

This accounts for the additional 726 Vermonters vaccinated on June 10, 2021.

Reopening Monday June 14 if about 500 Vermonters are vaccinated daily
Reopening Sunday June 13 if about 750 Vermonters are vaccinated daily
Reopening Saturday June 12 if about 1,000 Vermonters are vaccinated daily.

New walk-in clinics available across Vermont throughout the weekend, including at numerous State parks as part of the annual Vermont Days Weekend. SEE LIST BELOW.

Getting vaccinated is free and easy, with no appointment needed. Visit healthvermont.gov/MyVaccine to find a clinic near you, with some offering special incentives!

The Vermont Forward Plan ties reopening to specific vaccine milestones in the state. The following relates to progress towards Step 4.

Activation of Step 4 of the Vermont Forward Plan requires 80 percent of eligible Vermonters to be vaccinated.

On April 6, 2021, Governor Phil Scott released a reopening guide to help Vermonters and local businesses see the path for a phased return to unrestricted travel, business operations, and event gatherings. The plan was developed by the Department of Health, the Department of Public Safety, and the Agency of Commerce and Community Development and uses vaccination milestones to ensure a safe easing of personal restrictions and continued reopening of the state's economy.
