Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Senate Committee on Committees has appointed Brian Otley to the Vermont Community Broadband Board. Otley was formerly Chief Operating Officer at Green Mountain Power and will provide expertise in the area of utility law and policy to the board.
“The Committee is thrilled that Otley, along with an excellent slate of appointees from the Governor’s Office, Speaker’s Office, and Vermont Communications Union Districts Association, will provide strong leadership to accelerate the delivery of high-speed internet to all Vermonters,” said Committee on Committees members Lt. Governor Molly Gray, President Pro Tem Becca Balint, and Senator Dick Mazza.
The Committee also made two appointments to the Advisory Committee that will guide the Vermont Cannabis Control Board in implementing a regulated marijuana market in the state. Tim Wessel, a Selectboard member and former Chair from Brattleboro, will represent the interests of municipalities, and Chris Walsh, Director of Sales and Business Development at Terra Vera, and former President and CEO of Nectar’s Entertainment Group, will represent the Cannabis industry.
The Committee also re-appointed Lisa Ryan to the Vermont Commission on Women. Ryan serves as the Director of Domestic Violence Response Systems at Vermont Network Against Domestic and Sexual Violence. She served on the Rutland City Board of Aldermen and is the former First Vice President of the Rutland Area Branch of the NAACP.
