Health Insurance Town Hall series starts July 7

How Vermont Health Connect members can take advantage of the American Rescue Plan and lower their health insurance costs for 2021 and 2022

Vermont Business Magazine Per last week’s announcement, the Department of Vermont Health Access has completed system changes that implement key provisions of the American Rescue Plan Act. Now, more than $25 million in new federal dollars are available to Vermonters who buy health plans through the state’s health insurance marketplace, Vermont Health Connect.

Staff from the Department of Vermont Health Access are hosting a series of Health Insurance Town Halls this summer to help Vermonters take full advantage of the new funds. The first Town Hall will focus on helping current members 1) understand the multiple ways they can use the new financial help, 2) find out how they may be able to save more money through an unusual mid-year opportunity to change “metal levels,” and 3) use a new toolkit to spread word to our neighbors without health insurance. If health insurance was too expensive in the past, it’s a great time to look again.

The Town Hall will be held as a Microsoft Teams Live Event. The event features live captions in order to create a more inclusive environment for attendees who are hard of hearing, connecting from a public or loud space, or who may be speakers of other languages. Attendees in the Live Event may enable live captioning by clicking the closed captioning/subtitles button in the bottom right corner of the video player after the Live Event has begun. The translation captions are created by a real-time AI, which offers a “best guess” that may not always be accurate.
