Local food in your community grant application opening

Vermont Business Magazine A new round of Local Food in Your Community Grants will open Tuesday, April 6th at noon. This grant will fund projects that aim to expand direct-to-consumer or retail markets for Vermont specialty crop producers in Vermont through improved marketing efforts. Eligible applicants include producer cooperatives, food hubs, farmers markets, and independent retailers.

A limited number of $5,000 grants will be awarded for projects that demonstrate how investments will increase revenue and improve consumer access to specialty crops. In addition to grant funds, projects will receive program support from technical assistance providers and/or marketing specialists for improved project implementation valued at up to $2,000.

SIAL Canada Cheese Pavilion

Recruiting cheesemakers! In September, the Northeast Dairy Business Innovation Center (NE-DBIC) will host a turn-key Cheese Pavilion at SIAL Canada, an international food and beverage trade show in Toronto. Participating businesses will have access to complimentary coaching and guidance for participation, reimbursement for expenses, and add on events and services. Participants should be either exporting currently or export-ready.

CFAP 2 Expands and Reopens

Has your operation been directly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic? USDA's Farm Service Agency (FSA) will accept new and modified CFAP 2 applications beginning April 5, 2021 as part of a larger initiative to improve USDA pandemic assistance to producers. CFAP updates include additional payments for eligible cattle/row crop producers.

NRCS Conservation Stewardship

Agricultural producers wanting to enhance current conservation efforts can apply for the USDA’s NRCS Conservation Stewardship Program (CSP) which helps private landowners build their business while implementing conservation practices that help ensure the sustainability of their entire operation. A subset of the funds are specifically allotted to organic agriculture and organic forestland operators.

Dairy Farmer Promotion Grants

New England Dairy announces the competitive dairy promotion grant program to New England dairy farm families and employees. Funded projects will receive up to $1,500 annually to improve public perception of dairy farming and/or increase consumption of regionally-produced dairy products. Grants are available for projects that will be completed before December 15, 2021.
