Issues Addendum to First Statewide Elections Directive
Vermont Business Magazine Today Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos took further steps to protect the health of Vermont voters by issuing an addendum to his First Statewide Elections Directive.
“While Vermont voters have overwhelmingly embraced voting early and by mail this election season, some number of voters will still be choosing to exercise their right to vote at the polls on Election Day,” said Condos. “These additional measures will help further ensure that in-person voting can be conducted as safely as possible in accordance with Vermont Department of Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidance.”
Measures in the addendum include new procedures regarding poll watchers, under the statutory process by which formal challenges to voters may be issued at the polls, and the process by which voters who do not bring the ballot they were mailed to the polls may obtain a ballot to exercise their right to vote. The directive and addendum can be found on the Secretary of State’s website.
“These steps, and others we have taken, alongside the resiliency of Vermonters who have adapted quickly to the voting options we have put in place, have made Vermont a national leader in safe voting,” said Condos. “Whether you’ve voted early already, plan to return your voted ballot in the next week before Election Day, or are planning to vote in-person at the polls, I want to thank you for being a voter. Your vote is your voice!”
As of mid-day Monday, October 26th, 204,628 voters have already voted early.
