INVITATION TO EMPLOYERS AND EMLOYEES IN THE STATE OF VERMONT FOR A
FREE 1-HOUR TRAINING IN BEST PRACTICES FOR PREVENTING WORK DISABILITY
Vermont Business Magazine The US Department of Labor's (US DOL) Retaining Employment and Talent After Injury/Illness Network (RETAIN) is a new program between US DOL and states to address the critical problem of work disability. Currently, there is no agency, organization, institution, or health care service or system in the US whose responsibility it is to prevent work disability.
Vermont is one of eight states to be awarded RETAIN funding to design, implement, and test early intervention strategies to increase work retention and decrease work disability in the state. Vermont has one of the highest work disability rates among young people in the U.S. Unemployment is an independent risk factor for worse physical and mental health outcomes for unemployed individuals and their families, including cardiovascular disease, depression, suicide, and increased health care costs. The disproportionate burden of disability in Vermont negatively affects the Vermont workforce and the health our community.
Vermont RETAIN is offering a free one-hour training at your worksite for employers and/or employees in best practices to help Vermont workers with an injury or illness stay at work or return to work.
