Vermont Business Magazine Burlington Mayor Miro Weinberger has issued the following statement:
"Like so much, since the pandemic began, Independence Day this year is very different and presents unique risks. This holiday weekend I urge Burlingtonians and our neighbors to stay vigilant in our efforts to keep the virus in check by minimizing exposure to the “Three Cs” — crowds, close contact settings, and closed in spaces.
“Further, there has been an uptick nationally in illegal fireworks displays — sometimes resulting in fires and tragedy. I want to remind everyone that setting off fireworks in Burlington is illegal and dangerous. Please keep you and your neighbors safe by not lighting fireworks in the city."
In anticipation of risks this weekend, earlier this week the Mayor released this statement directed at bars, and this new COVID-19 graphic that we respectfully request that the media consider sharing widely.
