McCoy to Return as Minority Leader, LaClair as Assistant Minority Leader
Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont House Republican Caucus unanimously re-elected its leadership on Monday. Representative Pattie McCoy (R-Poultney) will return as House Minority Leader, while Representative Rob LaClair (R-Barre Town) will return as House Assistant Minority Leader.
"I am honored to have the support of my constituents and fellow House Republicans," said McCoy. "I look forward to working with returning and new members to partner with Governor Scott so we can rebound from COVID-19, grow our economy, and reduce the cost of living."
"I'm pleased to have the opportunity to work with my colleagues on our shared priorities over the next two years," noted LaClair. "With more Republican members elected to both the Vermont House and Senate, we stand ready to deliver for Vermonters."
McCoy was first elected House Minority Leader in 2018, and serves as a member of the House Transportation Committee and the House Rules Committee. She has been active in Poultney municipal government for many years, and has represented Poultney and Ira in the Legislature since her election in 2014.
LaClair was first elected House Assistant Minority Leader in 2018, and serves as Ranking Member of the House Government Operations Committee. He has been active in Barre Town municipal government for years, and has represented Barre Town in the Legislature since his election in 2014.
Representative Anne Donahue (R-Northfield) was also re-elected as the House Republican Caucus's at-large member of the House Rules Committee.
"This legislative session will present us with a number of challenges, both as it relates to COVID-19 and Vermont's underlying demographic and economic trends," added McCoy. "But I'm confident that, if we put aside partisan politics, and partner with our counterparts--Senators Brock and Collamore--in the Senate, we can set Vermonter on a solid trajectory."
