Vermont Business Magazine Today, the Burlington International Airport (BTV) opened Taxiway Golf, which is BTV’s first full-length parallel taxiway to the primary runway, 15-33, after four construction seasons.

“The construction of Taxiway Golf has been nothing less than astonishing, having taken 10 years of planning and preparation, as well as construction and coordination with all BTV partners to complete,” said Gene Richards, Director of Aviation. “We at BTV are thrilled to provide a safe and more efficient experience for passengers flying in and out of the Burlington International Airport.”

Taxiway Golf, standing at 9,000 feet in length, has been made possible due to Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Project (AIP) funds in the amount of $35.4 Million, with a local match provided by the Airport.

The efficiencies achieved by having a full-length parallel taxiway are a safer airfield environment, with decreased taxi time for passengers. In addition, this taxiway is now shifted 100 feet to the East, allowing for natural sound mitigation.

“Even as the City is focused on our response to the Covid-19 pandemic, we also continue to advance projects that ensure that we will be a stronger community on the other side of this,” said Mayor Miro Weinberger. “The Airport plays a crucial role in the economic health of our region, and this new taxiway will significantly improve operations. Thank you to our federal delegation and to the Airport team for working tirelessly to advance this project.”
