This award is given in recognition of dedication and contribution to child and adolescent health within the State of Vermont
Vermont Business Magazine During its virtual annual collaborative meeting earlier this month, the American Academy of Pediatrics Vermont Chapter (AAPVT) recognized two individuals who have shown exemplary leadership, collaboration and innovation.
Wendy S. Davis, M.D., FAAP and Breena W. Holmes, M.D., FAAP, have been selected as the American Academy of Pediatrics Vermont Chapter Green Mountain Pediatrician award winners for 2020. The Green Mountain Pediatrician Award is given in recognition of dedication and contribution to child and adolescent health within the State of Vermont.
AAPVT Chapter President Rebecca Bell, M.D. presented this award on behalf of the AAPVT Chapter. In her presentation Dr. Bell referenced the overwhelming request from Vermont pediatricians that this year’s Green Mountain Pediatrician be awarded to Dr. Davis and Dr. Holmes. Citing the extraordinary times and physicians rising to the occasion, “Dr. Davis and Dr. Holmes have gone above and beyond implementing calls for the pediatric community”, every day at the beginning of the pandemic and now three times a week. Many have commented on the comforting feelings of camaraderie that accompany these calls and how important that has been for holding them together and lifting those that care for children up with a strong sense of community.
This structure has been one that other states are wanting to emulate, modeling the collaborative effort, protocols and documents that have been created and modified during these calls.
