Planned Parenthood of NNE launches telehealth service to connect patients remotely

Vermont Business Magazine In recognition that people’s reproductive and sexual health care can’t wait, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England (PPNNE) announced the launch of a new telehealth program in Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine, which allows patients to access high-quality, affordable health care services by phone or through a private and secure video conferencing platform that connects them with PPNNE’s trusted health care providers.

Through telehealth, patients can access services with fewer visits or without needing to visit a health center at all, allowing providers to answer patient questions, manage prescriptions, and help patients address their sexual and reproductive health care needs remotely. In addition, PPNNE is still offering in-person visits when necessary.

“Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is here with you — wherever you are. As a critical component of Northern New England’s health care safety net, we continue to serve all who need us for STI screening and treatment, birth control, abortion care, and more. During a pandemic, sexual and reproductive health care can’t wait, and in these uncertain times, we're committed to caring for our patients — no matter what,” said Meagan Gallagher, President and CEO of PPNNE.

PPNNE’s 12 health centers in Vermont offer a wide range of sexual and reproductive health care services, providing expert, affordable, compassionate health care to more than 19,000 patients in Vermont each year. Last year, PPNNE (www.ppnne.org) served nearly 45,000 patients throughout Vermont, Maine, and New Hampshire.

“PPNNE is doing everything we can to get our patients the information and care they need in timely and personalized ways. Whether we provide services in person, online, or by phone — we’re here with you,” said Gallagher.

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England encourages everyone to follow the latest guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and local public health officials to reduce their risk of getting any respiratory virus or spreading one to others. This includes washing your hands often with soap and water, avoiding close contact with people who are sick, and practicing social distancing if COVID-19 is spreading in your community.

The safety and health of patients, our staff, and our broader communities remains our highest priority as our country faces an unprecedented public health crisis. Self-isolation and social distancing are ways we can care for ourselves and each other. Our health is connected, and we can all do our part and take care of ourselves, our health, and our community.

Planned Parenthood of Northern New England is the largest reproductive and sexual health care provider in northern New England with health centers in Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont. In Vermont, PPNNE has 12 health centers in Barre, Bennington, Brattleboro, Burlington, Middlebury, Newport, Hyde Park, Rutland, St. Albans, St. Johnsbury, White River Junction, and Williston, serves more than 19,000 patients each year, and provided $1.2 million worth of free and discounted health care in 2019.
