Vermont Business Magazine Monday marked Lineworker Appreciation Day, celebrated by the nation’s electric cooperatives, and VEC is honoring all the committed men and women who work hard on the front lines to keep the lights on for our members.
“As we all know, line crews work around the clock, sometimes in difficult and dangerous conditions, to keep power flowing across VEC territory,” said VEC Chief Executive Officer Rebecca Towne. “Whether they’re restoring power after a major storm or maintaining infrastructure critical to our electric system, lineworkers are at the heart of our co-op.”
Towne noted that VEC lineworkers, as well as many other dedicated front-line VEC employees who work with the public and in the field, deserve special recognition during the challenge of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“If you see VEC lineworker, or other VEC field staff, please give them a wave, say hi, and thank them for their dedication – and please remember to keep social distance, for the safety of our community, at least for now,” she said.
