Vermont Business Magazine On Friday, Sept 27 Vermont Pub and Brewery will be pouring it’s 2,000 brew, a Vermont Smoked Porter. It’s a milestone for the pub to be releasing it’s 2,000 beer since opening it’s doors in 1988, but in addition to hitting a record number of brews, some very special guests returned to create this beer.

Earlier this month, brewers from VPB’s past returned to the pub to brew with Scott Gawitt, the pub’s current brewer. Six former head brewers returned for this special occasion, one even traveling across country from Oregon. Special guests include longtime brewer Russ Fitzpatrick, who was the head brewer for 12 years, plus owner of The Alchemist, John Kimmich who was trained by VPB’s founder Greg Noonan, and one of Kimmich’s long time employees who's early career also ties to VPB, Steve Miller.

Steve Polewacyk of Vermont Pub and Brew says,“On September 5, 2019 we celebrated our 2000th batch of beer by brewing our Vermont Smoked Porter which we brewed for the first time 30 years ago to the day! As with all of our beers we do not use extracts or artificial flavors of any kind.  All of the intense smoked apple, maple and hickory notes come from an in-house malt smoking process that has been tested and perfected by trial and error throughout the years. We had an awesome day sharing stories and memories of the early days with VPB founder and Brewmaster Greg Noonan.”

Beer lovers can come sample this beer for the first time this Friday. The beer, a Vermont Smoked Porter, will be pouring for just $3 a pint. Head to Vermont Pub and Brewery for this special release and come appreciate some of the history of craft beer in Vermont.

Vermont's original craft brew pub and a premier local experience was founded by the late, renowned craft-brewing pioneer and author Greg Noonan in 1988. It is the longest running craft brewery in Vermont, serving a full menu and brewing over 80 styles of beer each year thanks to the small 14 barrel brewhouse.
