Sponsorship provides funds and equipment to support Burton’s commitment to resort innovation and sustainability
Vermont Business Magazine STIHL Inc has announced a new relationship with Burton Snowboards as a sponsor of the Burton Stash parks. Created by Burton Snowboards and unique to only six winter resorts in the world, Burton Stash parks use natural elements to build terrain park-like features, giving riders a completely different kind of resort snowboarding experience.
To support Burton’s efforts to make its Stash parks as sustainable as possible, STIHL will contribute outdoor power equipment and funding to help build new features, create new chain saw art and help the Stash park become more sustainable through the use of STIHL battery-powered equipment. Currently, STIHL equipment is being used in the development, maintenance and construction of new features and renovation of the Stash runs in Killington, Vt. and Jackson Hole, Wyo.
As part of the new relationship, STIHL is also donating battery-powered STIHL equipment and other tools to assist with outdoor operations at Burton’s global headquarters in Burlington, Vt. where 100% of the energy is sourced from renewable sources. STIHL also offers operations and safety training for Burton maintenance teams.
“We’re proud to align ourselves with Burton, a company that shares our corporate values in caring for nature,” said Roger Phelps, corporate communications manager for STIHL Inc. “At STIHL, we are committed to sustainability through the development of powerful, reduced/no exhaust emissions outdoor power equipment and using environmentally responsible production practices in our manufacturing facilities. Burton will now be able to maintain the property around headquarters and their communal garden with STIHL battery products reducing their impact on the environment.”
STIHL is also proud to support various Burton Stash events. In March, STIHL sponsored onsite chain saw carving during Burton’s sixth annual Slash & Berm event in Killington, Vt., which produced pieces that were integrated into the course. In addition, STIHL sponsored chain saw carver Griffon Ramsey, who created the first female “Shreddie” sculpture for the Killington event. The next collaborative effort was during Burton’s Summer Sale where Griffon was onsite throughout the event for live carvings. Griffon produced Stash-themed hand-carved benches and trash/recycling bins.
“We’re really excited about working with STIHL,” said Jeff Boliba, vice president of Burton Global Resorts. “This sponsorship is helping us to authentically and sustainably upgrade the features and chain saw art throughout the Stash runs, while arming the Stash park crews with the best equipment in the world. Having STIHL’s goals align so closely with ours makes for a natural relationship.”
