BTV reminds passengers to arrive two hours early due to increased traffic

Vermont Business Magazine This summer, Burlington International Airport (BTV) is expected to reach significant passenger growth milestones. This expected growth in passenger traffic is a result of the addition of Frontier Airlines to BTV’s air service providers, upgrades in aircraft size amongst all airlines, and new non-stop service to Denver International Airport (DEN) provided by both Frontier and United Airlines. Fiscal year to date, these components have contributed to a 14% increase of total passengers over last fiscal year.

“For the second consecutive year, BTV has seen significant passenger growth,” said Gene Richards, Director of Aviation, Burlington International Airport. “We thank BTV travelers for using your local hometown airport, as your support is vital to our success. This fiscal year, there has been an increase of 130,000 passengers utilizing BTV’s services. With this increase in passenger traffic, it is important that travelers plan ahead and arrive in a punctual manner to be successful. This is especially true for the summer months, specifically Memorial Day weekend, as flight loads are expected to be larger.”

BTV reminds all passengers to arrive at least two hours prior to their scheduled boarding time to ensure adequate time is available for screening by Transportation Security Administration (TSA) personnel. If passengers do not arrive two hours prior to their scheduled departure, there is a potential for missed flights. Additionally, it is essential that passengers pack in accordance with TSA regulations, remembering the 3-1-1 liquids rule for carry-on baggage; 3.4 ounce (100ml) bottles of liquids/gels/pastes/creams/aerosols, 1 quart-sized bag, and 1 bag per traveler. Once past the TSA checkpoints, many amenities are available for passengers to enjoy. Travelers can savor a locally sourced meal at The Skinny Pancake, or explore the numerous Vermont made products offered at Hudson News. BTV also offers free Wi-Fi, more than 820 charging opportunities post security, as well as Mamava lactation pods. For more information on BTV’s amenities, visit
