Vermont Environmental Consortium and the Vermont Technical College Present: The State of Vermont’s Water

Vermont Business Magazine The Vermont Environmental Consortium and Vermont Technical College (VTC) announced that registration is open for their annual environmental Conference, The State of Vermont’s Water. The conference will be held June 11, 2019 at VT Technical College in Randolph, VT. The conference will include topics like groundwater and storm water rule updates, nitrates and chloride in water, agricultural best practices, permits, and more.

The event runs from 8:00AM – 4:00PM. Pre-registration includes all sessions and lunch. The Conference welcome and opening remarks will be given by VEC President Miles Waite, Waite-Heindel Env. Mgmt; Pat Moulton, Vermont Tech; and by Julie Moore, Vermont ANR Secretary. VEC would like to thank Stone Environmental for being their GOLD sponsor! Other sponsors include ATC, The Verterre Group, Waite-Heindel Environmental Management, & Geotech Env. Equipment.

Topics to be discussed are: Rules Updates-Groundwater Protection Rule & Strategy; Wastewater System & Potable Water Supply Rule,  Storm water Permitting Rule; Session 1 includes Prioritizing Sites for Reclassification;  Impact of Revised Rule from Consultant ; Public/private partnership opportunities for 3-Acre impervious sites; SESSION III (Watershed Protection) includes  Dam removal, flood plan restoration;  The Role of Farm Retirements on Water Quality; SESSION IV (Storm water – Special Topics) includes  Phosphorous Control Planning; and Municipal Roads General Permit.  After Closing Remarks and questions there will be an optional tour of new Vermont Tech environmental lab.

Speakers, moderators, and panelists include; Scott Stewart, Hydrogeologist, VT DEC; Ernie Christianson, Regional Engineer Manager, VT DEC; Matt Moran, Environmental Program Manager, VT DEC; Gunner McCain, McCain Consulting; Becky Tharp, Water Quality Program Manager, Watershed Consulting; -Roy Schiff, Water Resource Scientist and Engineer, Milone & Macbroom; – Jane Lazorchak, Land Acquisition & Stewardship Coordinator, Vermont F&W; Amy Macrellis, Senior Water Quality Specialist for Stone Environmental.

Light breakfast, coffee breaks, & Lunch in Dining Hall is included in pre-registration. There will be opportunities to visit exhibitors during various breaks. Exhibitors include Weston & Sampson, Geotech Environmental Equipment, Endyne, Inc,  Contest Analytical, Vermont Rural Water Association, and ATC.

Please pre-register by June 1, 2019. Registrations will be accepted after that date, but will not guarantee a lunch in the dining hall so bring a bagged lunch that day. On-site registrations will be taken at door for an additional $10 so advance registration is recommended.
