Local nurses receive awards from UVM Medical Center

Vermont Business Magazine During National Nurses Week, the UVM Medical Center recognizes all of its nurses and members of the patient care team for providing high-quality, compassionate patient care, and positively impacting the lives of patients and their families. In addition, the hospital recognizes several nurses who have received special awards in recent months.

“We join health care organizations around the country in recognizing the extraordinary profession of nursing – and the individuals here at the UVM Medical Center who embody the highest standards of their profession.” said Kate FitzPatrick, RN, Chief Nursing Officer at the UVM Medical Center. “We are proud to have 2,064 amazing nurses working here in a wide variety of roles. Every day, in countless ways, they demonstrate their knowledge, skills, their talent, and a deep compassion for our patients and families.”

To date in 2019, Registered Nurses Carol Abair, Kristene Daigle, Amy Driscoll, Julie Hart, and Michael Kenney have received DAISY Awards, which recognize nurses who provide care to patients and their families with great clinical skill and extraordinary compassion. A nurse can be nominated by anyone in the organization – including patients, family members, fellow nurses, physicians, other clinicians and staff – anyone who experiences or observes extraordinary compassionate care being provided by a nurse.

More than 3,000 hospitals and 17 countries recognize nurses with the DAISY award. To learn more, visit The DAISY Foundation.
