Vermont Gas recognized with Excellence in Worksite Wellness award

Vermont Business Magazine For the second year, Vermont Gas’ (VGS) efforts to increase overall worksite and employee wellness is being recognized. The Vermont Department of Health and the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness selected VGS for an Excellence in Worksite Wellness award.

“VGS is committed to a sustainable future and we know that in order to have healthy communities, we need to look within and support the health of our people,” said Tiana Smith, Culture and Talent Leader at VGS. “For the past few years, our Wellness Committee has focused on ways to increase the overall health and well-being of our entire team through a wide-range of activities which has really energized our employees to make lasting changes.”

Some of the events include weekly yoga and bootcamp classes, nutrition seminars and walk-at-work celebrations. Last year, more than 40 employees participated in the Company’s Wellness Incentive Program.

“It is incredibly exciting to see the momentum our company events have created,” continued Smith. “In addition to our VGS events, we are also seeing employees step up their healthy habits and encouraging each other and their families to make better health choices, so this work has a ripple effect.”
