Vermont Business Magazine Main Street Alliance of Vermont held their fifth anniversary celebration at the Alchemist Brewery on Sunday night where they presented Representative Robin Scheu of Middlebury the 2019 Legislator of the Year Award.
“We are thrilled to recognize Representative Robin Scheu for her work this past legislative session to advance the family and medical leave insurance bill. ” said Ashley Moore, State Director. “Representative Scheu was the lead sponsor of the bill and worked tirelessly throughout this past legislative session to move a strong version forward in the House. We know she will carry that commitment into the 2020 session.”
Representative Scheu of Middlebury represents Addison-1 and is a member of the House Ways and Means Committee. She is currently on the board of the Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund and was the Executive Director of Addison County Economic Development Corporation for nine years.
On her recognition, she said, “ I am both honored and humbled to receive this award as I have great respect for the work Main Street Alliance does to support small business owners who are the backbone of our economy. While I am very disappointed that H.107 did not pass this session, I will do all I can to ensure that we pass a strong bill early next year. Working Vermonters and small businesses are counting on us.”
Since its founding in 2014, MSA-VT has been committed to bringing business owners to the table to engage in developing and advocating for policies that reflect the interconnected nature of small businesses and the communities they serve. A comprehensive and universal family and medical leave insurance program remains a top priority of the organization.
