A year-round camp for children with cancer and their families
Camp Ta-Kum-Ta Our 35th Summer Program is set to begin on July 21st where we will welcome approximately 75 Campers who have or have had cancer to have the time of their lives just being kids! At Camp Ta-Kum-Ta our campers get an experience that they would not be able to get anywhere else.
Our campers will arrive at TKT in South Hero on Sunday, July 21nd, for a book themed week and will be greeted by an opening activity that will make story books come to life! There are many exciting activities and experiences planned throughout the week including a Harry Potter day where campers will be transported into Hogwarts! They will also enjoy a Character Dinner where our volunteers and campers will be dressed up as their favorite book characters.
Later in the week, on Thursday, the campers and volunteers will dress in their best formal wear as they take part in an “Arabian Nights” themed night to remember; our annual formal dance. We will also join Curious George at the Circus in a fun afternoon at the pool during our water carnival on Wednesday which includes swimming, a visit from the Vermont therapy dogs (Therapy Dogs of Vermont), a water slide and much more! Our Campers have the opportunity to enjoy these themed activities along with many traditional camp activities such as arts & crafts, ropes course, athletics, camp fires, singing and swimming during the summer week!
The summer program will be in session Sunday July 21st 1:30pm– Saturday July 27th 10:45am at Camp Ta-Kum-Ta, 77 Sunset View Road, So. Hero Vermont.
