Vermont Business Magazine The Board of Directors of the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum in Stowe has selected Abby Chafee as their new Executive Director. "We anticipate that her infectious enthusiasm for skiing and riding, her extensive leadership and fundraising experience will mesh well with the Museum's goals for the future," say Board Co-Chairs Poppy Gall and Greg Morrill.
Abby learned to ski (and snowboard) at the age of 8 when her family moved to New Hampshire. It was then that her love of the sport, industry, and culture began. This passion has been a driving force for many of the major decisions in her life. She started her career in the ski industry managing events for a major ski resort that later led to consultant work for an adaptive ski organization. Later, in a leap of faith, she devoted her work to the nonprofit sector. "With extensive experience in development, event management, leadership, and with roots in the ski industry, I'm thrilled to lead the Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum as their executive director," says Abby.
Abby spent much of her childhood in Vermont; with summer camp on Lake Fairlee, adventuring in Greensboro, and cruising down the alpine slide at Stowe Mountain Resort. As she grew older she started spending her vacations in Stowe and sharing her love for the town with friends and family. "I've always imagined I would someday call this beautiful state my home. I couldn't be more excited to put down some roots in this perfect little ski town," says Abby.
Abby lives in Morrisville, VT with her husband, Chris, and their chocolate lab, Lobo. In her free time, you can find her hiking, paddle boarding, meandering outside, skiing, and dabbling in the visual arts.
The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum thrives by collecting, preserving, and celebrating Vermont's skiing and snowboarding history. The Vermont Ski and Snowboard Museum is a501c3 non-profit organization that welcomes visitors from around the world to share, to reminisce, and to enjoy the collections and their stories. The museum creates visually stimulating and historically in-depth exhibits, along with year-round educational programming and statewide community events.
