Brattleboro Housing Partnerships shakes up management

Vermont Business Magazine Brattleboro Housing Partnerships today announced the re-organization of its management staff to accomplish major development projects and establish a new foundation for its continued success. According to BHP Board Chair Janet Cramer, effective January 1, 2020, Christine Hazzard will become the executive director of the agency and Christine Hart will remain to manage three major property development projects.

Christine Hart has led the agency since 1995. Christine Hazzard has been the manager of the Resident Wellness & Supportive Services Team and Support Services At Home (SASH) Program Manager for Windham and Windsor Counties since coming to BHP in 2012.

Hart will focus exclusively on implementation of the 3.2 million dollar FEMA Pre-Disaster Mitigation Award for Melrose Terrace; the conversion of the subsidy mechanism for public housing to project-based housing vouchers for four of the current public housing properties and the development of Red Clover Commons II that will remove the last 25 households from the flood-prone Melrose Terrace.

On June 26, 2019, BHP received word of its FEMA Award for which it applied in 2016. The subsidy conversion is slated to close late this year but there will be many implementation activities into the next year. Work on Red Clover Commons II has ramped up with the awarding of funding from the Vermont Housing & Conservation Board and a Vermont Community Development Award sponsored by the Town of Brattleboro.

“These large and complex projects require us to have someone who can focus solely on them,” said Hart. “This will give Christine breathing room as she steps into the helm of the agency.”

“She has been a key staff person on all our initiatives since she joined the staff, “ Hart continued, “I join the Board, staff, and residents to welcome her to the leadership of this outstanding agency.”

Hart added, “There is no doubt that she will continue the legacy Brattleboro Housing Partnership now enjoys.”
