BTV boasts of successes, new direct to Denver

Wed, 01/23/2019 - 5:04pm -- tim

Vermont Business Magazine Burlington International Airport (BTV) announced today new and low-cost direct service to Denver starting in May 2019, provided by Frontier Airlines. According to officials, this announcement builds on the successes of 2018, which was one of BTV’s most successful years to date.

“A new direct flight to Denver is the latest in a streak of good news for the Burlington International Airport,” said Mayor Miro Weinberger. “As a result of a long and dedicated effort by the Airport team, we are seeing successes at the Airport that will in turn strengthen Burlington and our entire region.”

“We are very thankful to have wonderful partnerships with airlines,” said Gene Richards, Director of Aviation, Burlington International Airport. “We are continuing to work on gaining more amazing destinations you can fly to/from BTV in 2019. Not only is this tremendous news for the Airport, but for the entire region.”

In 2018, the Airport served more passengers than at any time in the last decade. The successes of the year include:

·       The Airport served 14 percent more passengers than it did in 2017, an increase of more than 83,000 additional outbound passengers and approximately 160,000 passengers in total – the largest increase since 2003 by both percentage and total number.

·       The Airport saw significant growth in enplanements, which increased by 4 percent over the previous year for more than 25,000 additional enplanements.

·       The Airport continued its strong financial management, and in May 2018, Moody’s Investors Service upgraded BTV’s revenue bonds from Baa3 to Baa2 with a stable outlook, followed by a ratings upgrade from Fitch in the fall.

Expanding air service continues to be one of BTV’s top priorities. As a result of the Airport’s work to cultivate relationships with new airlines throughout the country, as well as maintaining existing relationships, BTV has recently added several new direct flights, including new service to Orlando International Airport with Frontier Airlines and additional routes to Chicago and New York.

At the same time, BTV has taken several recent steps to ensure a positive travel experience for the Airport’s users. The Airport recently completed several capital projects, including new taxiways, a hotel, and local restaurants, which have paved the way for BTV to continue to be a standout hub for the Northeast.

Burlington International Airport (BTV) is northern New England’s most convenient and welcoming airport. Located adjacent to Burlington Vermont, BTV is just ten minutes from Lake Champlain. Business and leisure travelers alike appreciate BTV’s friendliness, excellent on-schedule record, and direct flights to: Atlanta (ATL) via Delta, Charlotte (CLT) via American Airlines, Chicago (ORD) via United or American Airlines, Denver (DEN) via Frontier, New York City via United, JetBlue, or Delta, Orlando (MCO)* via Frontier, Philadelphia (PHL) via American Airlines, Washington DC (IAD) via United or American Airlines. Including BTV, low-fare carrier Frontier Airlines added six new non-stop flights from Denver International Airport to Billings, Montana, Boston, Massachusetts, Burlington, Vermont, Green Bay, Wisconsin, and Mobile, Alabama, as well as Chicago O’Hare International Airport to Mobile, Alabama. To celebrate the new routes, Frontier is offering special introductory one-way fares as low as $39*, which are available now on flyfrontier.com.

“With this announcement, Frontier has now announced 44 new routes for 2019 all across the USA,” said Daniel Shurz, Senior Vice President, Commercial for Frontier Airlines. “We continue to make air travel more accessible and affordable and we look forward to making it easier for more people to fly, and for people to fly more often.”

Frontier is focused on more than low fares. The carrier offers customers the ability to customize travel to their needs and budget. For example, customers can purchase options a la carte or in one low-priced bundle called the WORKSsm. This bundle includes refundability, a carry-on bag, a checked bag, the best available seat, waived change fees and priority boarding.

The airline’s frequent flier program, FRONTIER Miles lets members enjoy many benefits as well as attain Elite status. Like the airline, FRONTIER Miles is family friendly, and the program makes it easy for families to enjoy the rewards together, including family pooling of miles. FRONTIER Miles is aptly named, because you earn one mile for every mile flown – no funny formulas at Frontier. If a customer travels a little or a lot, they will find FRONTIER Miles rewarding.

Frontier flies one of the youngest fleets in the industry, the Airbus A320 Family of more than 80 jet aircraft. With nearly 200 new planes on order, Frontier will continue to grow to deliver on the mission of providing affordable travel across America. Frontier’s young fleet also ensures that the company will continue to keep fares low and that customers will enjoy a pleasant and reliable experience flying with the airline.

Frontier wants its customers to have more options when they fly and there is no fee for reservation changes made 90 days or more from the travel date. If you need to make a change between 89 and 14 days from departure, the fee is only $49. Changes made 13 days or less from travel cost $119. When making a change, customers just pay any increase in fare that applies.
