BCBSVT Windham County Community Advisory Board provides local schools with grants to promote wellness

Vermont Business Magazine Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont’s (BCBSVT) Windham County Community Advisory Board (WCCAB) is providing grants to area schools as part of its ongoing commitment to promote physical activity and wellness, improving the overall health of Vermonters. Grants of up to $750 are being offered. Applications are due by Friday, February 15, 2019.

“The students in our schools have benefitted greatly from the opportunities presented through after-school activities promoting physical wellness that support healthy life styles,” says Lyle Holiday, Superintendent, WSESU and WCCAB member.  Over the past 5 years the Board has given over $18,000 in grants to schools in the region to fund projects ranging from swimming and lacrosse programs to after school cooking clubs and personal fitness programs.  “Supporting creative efforts to increase the daily physical activity of children is an important way for us to address the risks of rising obesity and increasingly sedentary lifestyles.” adds Megan Peek, Director of Community Relations and Health Education for BCBSVT.  For more information about these grants or to apply please email [email protected] or call Megan Peek at (802) 764-4858.
