Inaugural ceremonies for governor and constitutional officers Thursday

Vermont Business Magazine Vermont Governor Phil Scott, Lieutenant Governor David Zuckerman, Attorney General TJ Donovan, Treasurer Beth Pearce, Secretary of State Jim Condos and Auditor Doug Hoffer will take the oath of office on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 1:30 pm in the House Chamber of the Vermont Statehouse. Immediately following the swearing in ceremonies, Governor Scott will deliver his Inaugural Address for the 2019 – 2020 legislative session.

Seating on the right side of the Chamber’s balcony is reserved for members of the media.

OTHER INFORMATION: For security purposes, cameras and bags will be checked upon entering the State House.

The Sgt. At Arms, Janet Miller, has asked for members of the media covering the joint assembly and the State of the State Address to check in with her office beforehand, in person, to receive credentials.

The Sgt. At Arms has also advised that on the day of the speech, members of the press will be asked to show their credentials to law enforcement to gain access to the areas of the balcony and Chamber floor reserved for media. Press will have access to these areas early on Thursday to set up equipment but will be asked to leave temporarily before the Joint Assembly convenes for a security sweep.

INFORMATION FOR THE PUBLIC: Seating in the lower balcony of the House of Representatives is open to the public on a first-come-first-served basis. Members of the public who want a seat in the Chamber are advised to arrive early and get in line. The Chamber will open at 1 p.m. Overflow viewing and seating will be available in Room 11.
