SVCOA launches Care to Share food drive in Bennington and Rutland counties

Vermont Business Magazine Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging (SVCOA) has launched its first “Care to Share Food Drive,” a new month-long initiative aimed at helping to support local food shelves in Bennington and Rutland counties. “We launched the Care to Share effort to restock food shelves that can be depleted mid-winter after the holidays, and to help ensure food supplies for those affected by the recent government shutdown,” said Anna White, nutrition assistant and 3SquaresVT coordinator with SVCOA. “We are looking for as many groups, teams, businesses and organizations as possible to participate in the food drive, a simple, easy way to help those in need in our community.”

Groups interested in participating can follow these easy steps:

  • Call 802-442-5436 to participate in Bennington County
  • Call 802-786-5990 to participate in Rutland County
  • Set up a collection box at your business, school or other location. SVCOA will coordinate all food item pick-ups at the end of February.
  • Rutland County food pick-ups are scheduled for Thursday, February 27
  • Bennington County food pick-ups are scheduled for Friday, February 28

For more information, contact Anna White at 802-786-5990 or Cathy Aliberti at 802-442-5436.
