VNAs of Vermont A number of studies ordered by the Legislature in 2019 have been published or are in the final stages of development. Taken together, these reports touch on the major priorities of the VNAs of Vermont – financial sustainability and workforce recruitment and retention.
- The Rural Health Services Task Force will highlight the financial fragility of Vermont’s rural health care providers and call for sustainable funding. It will highlight the health care workforce shortages that plague the entire health care system, along with a series of recommendations for address the problems.
- The Older Vermonters Act Working Group report is in the process of being translated into a bill that will introduced shortly. It lays out principles for supporting and valuing older Vermonters and calls for regular funding increases for health care and long-term care providers who serve older Vermonters.
- The Office of Professional Regulation (OPR) recently released a report with recommendations to reduce barriers to hiring and retaining qualified nurse educators. In a separate report, OPR recommends that Vermont pass the Nurse Licensure Compact which has already been approved by a majority of states.
