Vermont Business Magazine Jim Brown, President of The Bank of Bennington, announced this week that the Bank has completed its annual giving to community food cupboards and fuel funds. This year, The Bank of Bennington is donating $25,000 to more than 20 area organizations in 11 towns.
Primarily supporting the good work of food cupboards and heating assistance programs, these November and December donations help low income Vermonters during the holidays and beyond into winter.
President Brown said, “We are a community bank. Our corporate structure as a mutual bank means we don’t have any shareholders, and our dedication is to our customers. We believe these donations make a real difference throughout the entire community, customers and non-customers alike”
The Open Door Mission in Rutland is one recipient this year. The Mission is a place where the less fortunate may get a hot meal and a warm bed 365 days a year. Last year the Mission provided 37,000 meals and 14,000 bed nights to the disenfranchised of Vt., among whom 89% are veterans who served their country with honor. The Mission is primarily financed by its thrift store, its once a year appeal, and an annual golf tournament.
Over the past ten years, The Bank of Bennington has shown its commitment to the people in the towns it serves by donating more than $750,000 to area non-profits in support of the needy, the arts, children, and education.
The Bank of Bennington is a mutual bank with deep commitment to the area. It is the only bank headquartered in Bennington County, Vermont and has branches in Bennington, Arlington, Manchester, and Rutland. For more information, visit call 802.442.8121 or visit online at thebankofbennington.com.
