SVCOA announces 2019 service results

Vermont Business Magazine Southwestern Vermont Council on Aging (SVCOA) today announced its 2019 service results in conjunction with the release of its 2019 annual report. Key outcomes include over 215,000 meals served and nearly 12,000 case management and option counseling hours provided to older Vermonters.

“SVCOA is pleased to share its 2019 service results, outcomes that were made possible by the efforts of agency staff, volunteers, contractors and community partners, as well as the financial support of so many individuals, organizations and towns,” said Chris Adams, development and communications director with SVCOA. “These results are representative of the overall impact SVCOA has on the communities it serves in southwestern Vermont, as well as the responsibility the agency holds in supporting older Vermonters in our region.”

Among the results are:

  • 11,837.5 case management and options counseling hours provided to 1,165 older Vermonters
  • 8,358 calls processed by the SVCOA HelpLine
  • 215,675 meals served to 3,062 older Vermonters
  • 16,613 hours of companionship provided to 80 older Vermonters by SVCOA’s Senior Companion Program
  • 1,670 individuals assisted by SVCOA’s State Health Insurance Program (SHIP)
  • 46,278 volunteer hours benefiting older Vermonters through the GMRSVP program (Bennington, Windsor and Windham Counties)
  • 724.5 hours of private mental health counseling provided to 60 individuals by SVCOA’s Elder Care Program
  • 154 clients served by SVCOA’s Money Management Program
  • 14,678 rides for older Vermonters supported or coordinated by SVCOA
  • 208 “Tai Chi for Falls Prevention” participants
  • 45 grants awarded supporting 562 caregivers across Bennington and Rutland counties

Additionally, SVCOA staff and leadership contributed to a range of working groups, advisory committees, and legislative advocacy efforts during 2019, all aimed at supporting the needs of older Vermonters and caregivers throughout the state.
