Vermont Business Magazine The Honorable Jean Charest, former Deputy Prime Minister and Premier of Québec, will keynote the 2020 Vermont Economic Conference. Charest, one of Canada's best known political figures, initiated the negotiation for the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic Trade Agreement and worked closely with Vermont Governor Jim Douglas to strengthen trade relationships between Vermont, Canada, and Québec.
Every day, the national news is focused on trade wars, changing tariffs, and the debate over USMCA, creating a level of uncertainty that amplifies instability for businesses and consumers. Yet, in Vermont, we are fortunate to have a strong relationship with Canada and partnerships with our Québec neighbors leading to enhanced cross-border trade and commerce in business, industry, and tourism.
