VSP 'Laser Strike' on an aircraft

Vermont State Police On December 11, 2019, at approximately 1842 hours, Vermont State Police responded to a reported “Laser Strike” on an aircraft. It was reported that an aircraft was hit with a laser pointer one mile south of Shelburne Air Park Road in Charlotte. Trooper’s searched that area but did not locate any suspicious activity. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Vermont State Police Williston Barracks.

Sec. 39A. Aiming a laser pointer at an aircraft
(a) OFFENSE — Whoever knowingly aims the beam of a laser pointer at an aircraft in the special aircraft jurisdiction of the United States, or at the flight path of such an aircraft, shall be fined under this title {maximum of  $250,000} or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both.
