Vergennes Day a big success

Vermont Business Magazine Record numbers filled the Vergennes City Park on Saturday for Vergennes Day, enjoying great food, local musicians, and vendors & organizations lined up along every inch of the sidewalks. The Addison County Chamber of Commerce organizes this event but, as always, a great deal of the credit for its success goes to a fantastic group of volunteers, sponsors and community organizations.

Rob Carter, president of ACCOC, said, “The music was fantastic this weekend. The Hitmen entertained us on Friday evening at the Vergennes Street Dance, with several hundred people seated around on the grass or dancing under the lights on North St.” Vergennes day included music by the Vergennes City Band, Pete Sutherland & Oliver Scanlon and LC Jazz, plus our sound technician Mark Mulqueen on Saturday. Carter observed “Each band has a following that always shows up for their performances, but last weekend a whole new crowd was introduced to a wide variety of music that was enjoyed by young and old alike.”

A special thanks is also extended to the other organizations that help spread Vergennes Day throughout the city:

•             Run Vermont and Scott Gaines for the 5K, 10K, 15K and Kid’s Fun Run

•             The Vergennes Fire Department with their pancake breakfast and the very popular bubble pit.

•             The Vergennes Rotary and their annual Rubber Duckie race on Otter Creek.

•             And the Bixby Library and Vergennes Rotary awarding several prizes for their summer reading program Booked for Bikes.

The Addison County Chamber looks forward to seeing everyone back again next year for the 39th Annual Vergennes Day.
