Vermont State Police On August 14, 2019, at approximately 2105 hours, the Vermont State Police were dispatched to the report of a cyclist that was laying in the roadway. Preliminary investigation indicates that the operator was traveling south on a motorized bicycle. A passing motorist observed the cyclist in the roadway and contacted emergency services. The operator was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center with serious bodily injury.
Anyone that may have witnessed a cyclist in the area at the above mentioned time is asked to contact the New Haven State Police Barracks. This investigation is in the very early stages, no other information is available at this time.
The Vermont State Police were assisted on scene by members of the Bristol Fire Department and Bristol Rescue. VT Route 116 was temporarily closed as a result of the investigation.

Ernest Martin, 51 of New Haven was the operator of this motor vehicle. Martin's status at the University of Vermont Medical Center is still critical, however, he is expected to survive. Currently, there is no further information on what transpired prior to this incident. Anyone that may have witnessed Mr Martin operating his motorized bicycle or had contact with him during the preceding 24 hours is asked to contact the New Haven State Police Barracks at 802-388-4919.
