National Life Foundation donates $70,000 to the Greater Burlington YMCA

Vermont Business Magazine The National Life Group Foundation granted $70,000 over two years to the Greater Burlington YMCA in support of their Staying in the Heart Capital Campaign and Early Childhood Program. The funds will be used to strengthen the Y’s capacity to provide for the families and children who use its services. This includes offering 50 additional infant/toddler spaces in the new Y facility, which is projected to open in early 2020. It will also help meet an increased demand for financial assistance to support at-risk children through the Y’s Early Childhood Program.

The Greater Burlington YMCA currently serves 3,000 members and 2,700 children through child care, afterschool, and summer programs. Twenty-three percent of these members and as many as 50% of the children in some programs receive Y financial assistance, something that would be impossible to sustain without outside funding.

“The Y has been at the center of our community for decades,” said National Life Foundation President Beth Rusnock. “We’re pleased to be able to support the good work that happens there, both now and well into the future.”

“National Life Foundation’s generosity and vision recognize that there are unmet needs in the community today and that a stronger Y will be in a better position to meet these needs for years to come,” said Kyle Dodson, Greater Burlington YMCA President & CEO.
