Howard Center suicide prevention program gets support from National Life Group Foundation

Vermont Business Magazine Howard Center recently received a $5,000 grant from the National Life Foundation to produce and distribute a free resource guide, “Suicide Prevention Across the Lifespan.” The publication complements other suicide prevention initiatives that are offered through Howard Center’s First Call for Chittenden County, a crisis intervention program that offers help 24/7/365.

Charlotte McCorkel, project director of integration at Burlington-based Howard Center, says, “Suicide prevention is a community effort, especially in a state with such a high suicide rate. Our goal is to spread prevention messaging as broadly as possible. We are grateful for this support from National Life which will help us to distribute this critical information.” “Suicide Prevention Across the Lifespan” includes information on risk factors, warning signs, treatment options, sample interventions, and much more. The publication is intended to serve individuals, families, community members, and professionals who may be at risk for suicide or want to support someone who is at risk.

For more information or to request free copies of the booklet, contact Martie Majoros at 488-6911 or [email protected].

Last year, Howard Center helped 16,000 people in over 60 locations and six counties with mental health, substance use, and developmental services.
