Vermont Business Magazine This holiday season, Main Street Alliance of Vermont is making it easier for shoppers to identify local businesses that share their values. An initiative called ‘Shop Your Values’ helps shoppers locate businesses that are serving their communities by advocating for policies that support working families and foster a thriving small business economy. Businesses on the list have rallied behind policies like paid leave and high-quality, affordable health care and child care.

Shoppers who wish to locate these businesses and others around the country can search on the organization’s site, shopyourvaluesmsa.com.
All Main Street Alliance members are invited to participate in Shop Your Values and can submit their business directly to the directory on the site. From chocolatiers to bookstores to meaderies, there are many small Vermont businesses participating in Shop Your Values this year, giving residents plenty of ways to give gifts that also support communities.
Some of the Vermont businesses participating in Shop Your Values this year include: Jaquelyn Rieke, owner of Nutty Steph’s in Middlesex; Leigh Williams, owner of Laughing Moon Chocolates in Stowe; Ricky Klein, head brewer and Chief Visionary Officer of Groennfell Meadery in Colchester; Michael DeSanto, owner of Phoenix Books in Essex, Rutland, Woodstock, Burlington; and Eric Sorkin, owner of Runamok Maple in Fairfax.
Main Street Alliance is a national network of small business coalitions working to build a new voice for small businesses on important public policy issues. Alliance small business owners share a vision of public policies that work for business owners, their employees, and the communities they serve – something to keep in mind when buying gifts for loved ones.
