Vermont Business Magazine Middle Vermont medical cannabis patients now have additional access to alternative pain relief with the opening of Southern Vermont Wellness’ (SVW) first satellite locationat 1641 Rt. 7 South in Middlebury. The new dispensary has ample parking and is patient comfort focused with nearly 1,600 square feet of retail and consultation space and will offer a home delivery option.
“Since we started in 2013, ease of access to our quality products has always been a priority. Many of the people who need medical cannabis have physical challenges that make traveling difficult and painful. Our new location in Middlebury gives patients another option and easy access, especially to those in central Vermont,” said Shayne Lynn, SVW Chief Executive Officer.
The dispensary will be open Tuesday-Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and with intention to expand operating hours in the future.Outreach events are also being planned for health care professionals to help them better understand the program and be more informed resources for their patients considering cannabis.
“We are excited to bring alternative pain relief to more Vermonters and look forward to being a part of the community in Addison County.Patients will find the same knowledgeable staff and selection of quality medical grade cannabis products as they do at our other locations in Burlington, South Burlington and Brattleboro,” said Bridget Conry, SVW Director of Sales and Product Development.
Like other dispensaries in the state, only medical marijuana patients registered with SVW (or their registered caregivers) are permitted to enter the dispensary. Medical marijuana patients in Vermont have debilitating medical conditions such as cancer, multiple sclerosis, HIV/AIDS, Crohn’s disease, Parkinson’s, glaucoma, PTSD or other conditions that cause chronic pain, nausea, seizures or wasting syndrome.
SVW patients are not required to change dispensary designation
Vermont Marijuana Registry patients are required to designate a single dispensary as their source of medical cannabis. However, under state law a dispensary may include a satellite location, allowing current SVW patients to visit the new Middlebury location as well as theBrattleboro location, without changing their designation. Patients that use other dispensaries including Champlain Valley Dispensary (CVD) in Burlington and South Burlington would be required to change their designation.
