Seven Days’ 9th annual Vermont Restaurant Week starts Friday

Vermont Business MagazineSeven Days, Vermont’s free and independent weekly newspaper, is excited for the 9th Annual Vermont Restaurant Week, a celebration of the state’s vibrant food scene presented by the Vermont Federal Credit Union.For 10 days,April 20 to 29, 115 restaurants from Brattleboro to St. Albans will offer special prix-fixe dinners at three price points — $20, $30 or $40 per person. Lunch, brunch and breakfast specials at select locations will also be available. The diversity in cuisine and participating restaurants will whet the appetites of diners across the state. Vermont Restaurant Week is also a benefit for the Vermont Foodbank. Last year, the event raised $21,380 through proceeds from the week’s special events, a matching grant from the Vermont Community Foundation and City Market’s Rally for Change program, which encourages customers to round up their totals at the register.

This year’s events include:

  • Cooking With WhistlePig:Students learn how to prepare a three-course meal featuring WhistlePig Whiskey from one of the Cook Academy Chefs at the Essex, Vermont’s Culinary Resort and Spa.Sunday, April 22, 5-8 p.m.in Essex.

  • Stretch & Sip Yoga:Join Sarah Quinttus of Soulshine Power Yoga for an all-levels foodie flow in the brewery. This hourlong vinyasa-style class will focus on digestion, detoxification and mindful eating. End your practice with a pint or a flight.Sunday, April 22, 10-11 a.m., Switchback Brewing Co. in Burlington.

  • Culinary Trivia Night —Seven DaysFood News:Brush up on bylines before expanding your waistline. The winning team earns a private sunset cruise for 10 aboard the Friend Ship. This popular event is emceed by Top Hat Entertainment.Monday, April 23, 6-9 p.m., Nectar’s in Burlington.

  • Get Cultured:A food writing and sensory evaluation class led by Allison Hooper, cofounder of Vermont Creamery, andSeven Daysfood writer Hannah Palmer Egan. This class is designed for anyone looking to express their love of food — especially cheese.Wednesday, April 25, 5:30-7 p.m., City Market/Onion River Co-op in Burlington’s South End.

  • The Dish — What the Hemp?:Join a panel of local experts including farmers, chefs, business owners and agronomists for a lively discussion about CBD and how it’s impacting our food system.Thursday, April 26, 5:30-7 p.m., ArtsRiot in Burlington.

  • The Brunch Bash:CelebrateSundayfun-day at the Brunch Bash! This curated tasting event brings some of your favorite chefs under one roof to serve up bite-size classics and inventive new creations. Come sip on mimosas, sample tasty treats and wrap up Vermont Restaurant Week with a bang!Sunday, April 29, 10-11:30 a.m.&12:30-2 p.m., Essex Culinary Resort & Spa in Essex.
